No Second Night Out Leicestershire
NSNO Leicestershire is a partnership project, led by local charity Action Homeless, which provides a coordinated response to rough sleeping within the city and county. The partnership comprises of organisations from the voluntary and statutory sector including Inclusion Healthcare, Leicestershire Cares, Leicester City Council, The Y, Leicestershire Community Projects Trust and Shelter Housing Aid and Research Project.
Initially launched in Leicester City in 2013, the project now extends into the county ensuring that rough sleepers across Leicester and Leicestershire do not have to spend a second night sleeping on the streets.
After the start up grant from the Homelessness Transition Fund came to an end in 2014, partners made a commitment to continue with the project and expand its reach. NSNO Leicestershire now works in partnership with Community Teams at all 7 of Leicestershire’s Borough and District Councils.
NSNO Leicestershire provides a clear pathway for those who have resorted to rough sleeping to help them to get off the streets. As well as efficient access to temporary accommodation, rough sleepers are provided with specialist physical and mental healthcare services; are offered support from a mentor and where appropriate are given help to get back into work.
